2. What happens if I become disabled before I retire? Contact the Fund office immediately. Do not wait for a determination from the Social Security Adminstration. 3. What happens if I die before I retire? Your accrued deaths benefits will be paid to the named beneficiary providing you have not forfeited any benefits due to a break in service.
4. Can I borrow/withdraw my pension for hardship? No, Pension benefits are reserved for monthly payments once you reach retirement age eligibility.
5. How do I apply for benefits? Call the Fund Office for an application.
6. How do I appeal a Board of Trustees decision? See Summary Plan Description Booklet for “Your Rights Under ERISA”
7. What happens to my pension if I leave the trade? Contact the Fund Office for additional information
8. Do I earn credit for military time? Yes, under certain specifications. Contact the Fund Office for additional information 9. Do I receive pension credit for a workers compensation injury? Yes, under certain specifications. Contact the Fund Office for additional information.
10. When am I fully vested? When you have accrued five (5) pension years of credited service with 200 or more hours. Pension Year is April 1 thru March 31.
11. What do I need to do if I have a change of marital status? You may obtain a beneficiary card on this website, but must also provide pertinent documents, ie divorce decree including separation agreement, death certificate, or marriage certificate. 12. Can my benefits be suspended after retirement? Yes, If I exceed the 40 hour work restriction under the plan’s jurisdiction(OH, KY & WV).
