Dependent Eligibility Changes A notice was sent March 31st, explaining that due to the changes regarding extended coverage for dependent children to age 26, it is necessary for each participant to enroll/reenroll their dependent children between the ages of 19 - 26 (children are no longer eligible as of their 26th birthday), including children currently covered as full-time students.
The enrollment form was enclosed with the notice and needed to be completed and received by the Hospitalization Plan within 30 days for coverage effective May 1, 2011. As a reminder, a dependent child is not eligible for health care coverage with the Plan if they are eligible for health care coverage with their employer or their spouse's employer. If an eligible dependent becomes eligible for health care coverage with their employer or their spouse's employer, the Plan must be notified within 30 days of the eligibility. Failure to notify the Plan will result in the member and child being liable for reimbursement to the Plan for claims paid in error. Please refer to the notice for complete details on the Plan changes due to health care reform.
Additional copies of the enrollment form can be found under Healthcare -> Forms -> Older Dependent Healthcare Form. |
